- Samsung launches Cline, an AI coding assistant, in July to boost developer productivity in DX division.
- Cline enables natural language coding, enhancing efficiency by up to 26% for Samsung’s software developers.
- Aligning with Samsung Gauss, Cline supports rapid, innovative development across mobile, TV, and appliances.
Electronics announced on Sunday its plan to implement an artificial intelligence (AI) coding assistant service named Cline, set to launch next month, aimed at boosting productivity among its software development workforce. This strategic move underscores Samsung’s ongoing transition toward an AI-driven company, leveraging cutting-edge tools to streamline its development processes.
With Cline, which is an open-source AI tool, developers can create, modify, and run code just by giving simple instructions in plain English like "create a login function." Samsung has started a Cline beta test in its DX division, which oversees its mobile, TV, and home appliance operations, recent internal reports state. This initiative is connected to Samsung’s plan to boost coding productivity and promote innovation in all its products.
The adoption of Cline follows a growing trend in the tech industry, where AI-powered coding assistants are transforming software development. Economists from MIT, Princeton, and the University of Pennsylvania discovered that using such tools can help developers at all levels, but especially more junior and less experienced ones. Including Cline in its work is expected to boost the speed of prototyping, increase how often testing takes place, and support a quicker development approach.

The decision follows Samsung’s overall strategy for AI, which includes creating its self-developed AI model, Samsung Gauss, which was launched in 2023. Because of Gauss Code and code.i, members across the company can now code faster and more effectively. With the adoption of Cline, Samsung means to make it easier for its developers to introduce innovative solutions to a wider range of its products.
As Samsung continues to embrace AI technologies, the integration of tools like Cline positions the company to maintain its competitive edge in the global tech landscape, driving advancements in consumer electronics and beyond.
