
Infosys Sign Deal To Acquire Chip Design Firm InSemi

It will strengthen Infosys' engineering R&D capabilities and enable the company to provide comprehensive end-to-end product development for clients, as semiconductors are a key component in the technology driving growth in AI (artificial intelligence), 5G, quantum technology, the internet of things (IoT), smart devices, and other technologies, the company stated.
Infosys is strong in engineering services and semiconductors is a $500 billion opportunity, said Nilanjan Roy, outgoing CFO of the company, as per economic times.
Furthermore, the cooperation with InSemi will help expedite Infosys' chip-to-cloud strategy by bringing in specialty design talents at scale, complementing the company's existing investments in AI and automation platforms, as well as industry partnerships.
InSemi, founded in 2013, is situated in Bengaluru and specializes in electronic design, platform design, automation, embedded and software technologies. It employs over 900 design specialists and serves clients worldwide in semiconductor, consumer electronics, automotive, and high-tech industries.
InSemi is a “strategic investment” to usher in a new wave of growth and leadership position in engineering R&D, said Dinesh R, executive VP and co-delivery head at Infosys.
“Infosys has been a leader and at the forefront of delivering cutting-edge solutions across industries with engineering R&D services. With the advent of AI, smart devices, 5G and beyond, electric vehicles, the demand for next-generation semiconductor design services integrated with our embedded systems creates a unique differentiator,” he said.
Shreekanth Sampigethaya and Arup Dash, cofounders of InSemi, stated that the company has established a solid basis for growth and design capabilities across the semiconductor value chain during the last five years.
